The religious house of worship was a place to record baptism, marriage, and burial records. Some baptism records include the date of birth and some burial records include the date of death. Each religion kept a different set of information for their religious practice. Some religions kept records in languages other than English.

Elements of the citation could include: name, date of the sacrament, name of the house of worship, town, county, name of the series, volume and page(s), repository, microfilm number, item number, Web page, URL, author or creator.
