An essential part of the St. Louis Genealogical Society’s Mission is to provide educational services.

Classes

The Society offers a wide variety of genealogical and Internet classes at the office, taught by experienced genealogical instructors. All classes are open to the public. A beginning genealogy class covers traditional genealogical basics and is free to members. Click here for a current schedule.

Speakers’ Bureau

Would your organization like to hear a lecture on how to start researching your family history? Through its Speakers’ Bureau, the St. Louis Genealogical Society provides speakers to meet with area organizations and deliver a one-hour presentation on getting started. To request one of our members to meet with our group, please call the Society office at 314-647-8547.

Research Institute

Every few years, we offer a week of intensive workshops on a topic of genealogical interest. In the past, we have offered workshops on researching in St. Louis, German genealogy research, and writing family histories. Institutes are always posted on our website, so check in often for updates.

More Educational Opportunities

In addition to traditional classes, StLGS sponsors a variety of other learning experiences:
