Fee Fee Baptist Church was formed in 1807 and is considered the first Baptist church in the St. Louis area. Several preachers worked on a circuit, traveling from one area to another, often holding services in a home.

Subsequently numerous Baptist churches were formed. A good history of the Baptist religion in St. Louis can be found in Elva Kuykendall Norman’s book, Biography of a Church: A History of the Early St. Louis Baptist Community 1817–1877, and Delmar Church Which Emerged from it, 1877–1977, which is listed below.
