Marshall Young Snider, 1867–1946
Marshall Snider was born 10 October 1867 to Sarah Jane (Wilson) and Julius M. Snider in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. On 14 February 1893, Marshall married Mary Ellodie Medley in Cape Girardeau. This couple had five children.
The 1910 federal census for Cape Girardeau, Missouri, listed Marshall J, age 42, as widowed. Marshall was a merchant at a general store. By 1920, he had moved to St. Louis City and by 1930 he was retired.
At the time of his death on 23 October 1946, Marshall lived at 4043 Russell Avenue in St. Louis. Marshall died from carcinoma sigmoid or colon cancer. The funeral was held at St. Vincent’s Church with burial at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In addition to Marshall, Ellodie, all of their five children, and one son-in-law found their final resting place at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Their son, William T. Snider, and his wife, Louise Williams Snider, are buried elsewhere.
