Ernestine “Tina” (Winkelmeyer) Hannegan, 1851–1925
Ernestine “Tina” Winkelmeyer was born on 3 December 1851 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Louis Winkelmaier (original spelling) and Eliza Gilbert. She was the fourth of six children. Little is known of her childhood. On 8 July 1874 she married John Murdoch Hannegan at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Their first child, John Louis Hannegan, was born on 16 February 1875. Their second son, Daniel Edward Hannegan, was born on 3 September 1876 and baptized at St. Vincent’s on 4 March 1877. Ernestine and her husband provided the home for her widowed mother beginning in 1881. Ernestine became a widow in 1896. The extended Winkelmeyer family included her children and grandson. On 1 May 1898, Tina was a guest at the 25th wedding anniversary celebration for August and Julia Winkelmeyer Straub. Tina’s son John Louis was employed by Winkelmeyer relatives at the International Bank of St. Louis. The picture on the bottom right includes Ernestine with her son John Louis, his wife Bertha Elisabeth “Lizzie” Deininger, their son John Michael, and her mother-in-law, Sarah Hannegan, at the time of the baptism of John Michael Hannegan in 1904. Ernestine Winkelmeyer Hannegan lived in St. Louis until her death on 3 November 1925. She is buried in New St. Marcus Cemetery with her husband, John M. Hannegan.
