History

Established in 1894; closed in 2001

Founded by members of St. Marcus Church, the new group was organized by the Rev. L. G. Nollau. The congregation met in the Soulard Market Hall before building its own structure. In 1901, the membership stood at eighty but there were 275 students attending Sunday School. In 1913, the membership of St. Paul’s-Friedens German Evangelical Church, which had been nearby at 13th and Allen Streets, merged into Jesus Church.
