Sarah Jane (Wilson) Snider, 1843–1925
Sarah Jane Wilson was born on 24 May 1843 to John Manson Wilson and Margaret Amanda Anderson in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. Sarah Jane first married Andrew Clippard. After his death, she married Julius Snider, who had been married to Andrew Clippard’s younger sister, Margaret, before her death in 1863. This couple married a brother and sister. Julius and Sarah Jane were married to each other on 5 March 1865 in Oak Ridge, Missouri.
In 1920, Sarah J. Snider, age seventy-five, was living with her daughter and son-in-law, George and Laydes Simms at 4011a Shaw, in St. Louis.
On 20 August 1925, Sarah died at the home of their son, Marshall, who lived at 1080 South Kingshighway. Burial was at Memorial Park on 22 August 1925. Cause of death was chronic “paren-nephritis,” which is an archaic term for chronic kidney disease. Senility and heat exhaustion in her eighty-fourth year were contributing causes.
