From Researching to Writing: Preserving Our Family Stories

Our family stories are too precious to lose, and sooner or later we need to stop researching and begin preserving our own memories and the stories we’ve gathered. We’ll look at a variety of ways you can get started, some techniques for doing things the best way possible, lots of creative ideas for those not ready to write a book, and more. There will be time to write and collect ideas during the day, and we’ll follow up with a “bonus” class on Saturday, 3 October from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. for more sharing. This is a paid event. Using DNA for Your Irish Family History

Many Americans have Irish ancestry and are keen to know more about their Irish forebears. However, a stumbling block to researching those ancestors is not knowing where in Ireland they came from, as most often all we see on documents for place of origin is “Ireland.” However, the advent of DNA testing may be just the thing to help you overcome this obstacle. Registration for this meeting is open on the Events page.

Harley Hammerman, creator of Lost Tables.com, will revive culinary memories of old St. Louis restaurants which were dear to us and our ancestors, with an emphasis on the St. Louis Jewish community.
