Katherine “Kate” Twining Moody lived in Webster Groves and was a librarian for the St. Louis Public Library from 1895 until 1945. She amassed a large collection of photos, newspaper articles, booklets, oral histories, and other documents which has been donated to the Webster Groves Historical Society. They have teamed with the Webster Groves Public Library and Missouri Digital Heritage to make this eclectic resource fully searchable and accessible to the public. You will be intrigued by how much is now available to researchers in this newly released treasure trove of local history. Many Americans have Irish ancestry and are keen to know more about their Irish forebears. However, a stumbling block to researching those ancestors is not knowing where in Ireland they came from, as most often all we see on documents for place of origin is “Ireland.” However, the advent of DNA testing may be just the thing to help you overcome this obstacle. Canva is a set of free online graphic design tools that can help you celebrate and share your genealogical discoveries. This class includes a “grand tour” of the Canva platform, essential design and text tools, and inspiring genealogy project examples. You’ll also learn where to find free fonts, textures, and graphics that give your work a polished but vintage feel. Best of all, you’ll walk away with plenty of inspiration and practical ideas to bring your family’s history to life. Voting for Officers is Now Open for StLGS Members
It’s time once again to vote for a slate of officers who will serve for the next two years. Up for election this year are president, vice president of membership, and secretary. You may recall that our officer positions are staggered so that we don’t have all new officers starting at once.
Running for co-presidents for a second term are Kathy Franke and Jeani Ward. Both women are longtime society volunteers, working on numerous projects and serving in leadership roles. Seeking election as vice president of membership is Marsha Mulherin, and current secretary Debbie Benoit has also agreed to run for a second term. Full biographies and photos of all the candidates, as well as a ballot, are accessible to StLGS members on the Election of Officers page of our website. Voting remains open until the 1st of November, and we hope members will cast their votes in support of the volunteers who have agreed to serve as officers.
