Jewish SIG Meeting: Judaism in East St. Louis (Illinois)

East St. Louis, Illinois, just east of St. Louis, over the Mississippi River, had a thriving Jewish population in the early twentieth century. We’ll explore the congregation of Agudath Achim in East St. Louis, organized in 1911. We’ll look at the evolution of the congregation as well as the evolution of the neighborhood it once called home.

Featured speaker: Dr. Andrew “Andy” Theising. emeritus professor of political science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and author of the book, Made in U.S.A.: East St. Louis
