Trading Post

Recycling old Genealogical Materials

The St. Louis Genealogical Society operates the Trading Post as a place where genealogists can recycle books, journals, computer products, and other genealogical materials that they no longer need, and where other genealogists can find great bargains on genealogical materials that they do need.

Donations can be made to the Trading Post by bringing materials to the Society Office during our regular business hours, Monday, Thursday, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, or by special appointment. Your donation may be tax deductible, with a value determined by you.

Trading Post Donation Guidelines

(Note: For quick reference, these guidelines are available in PDF format. Click here.)
In an effort to manage the Society’s Trading Post, we have established the following guidelines for donations to the Trading Post.

The Trading Post is pleased to accept: The Trading Post is unable to accept: For items that the Trading Post is unable to accept, please consider: Personal family history papers really belong within the family. We encourage you to plan for the disposition of these materials with your family members.

What’s in the Trading Post?

Materials in the Trading Post can be viewed by visiting the Society’s office during our regular business hours, Monday, Thursday, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Each year the Trading Post materials are also offered for sale at the Society’s Fair.

Because the exact list of items in the Trading Post is always changing, it is impossible to provide a full inventory here. A partial listing of some “highlight” items can be found by clicking here.
