The first Episcopal church opened in St. Louis in 1819 in what is now called Christ Church Cathedral. Each congregation maintains its own records. The Archives of the Diocese of Missouri has some records for closed facilities.

St. Mark’s Library in New York City has a large collection of historic Episcopalian records, including information on most bishops. The library is part of the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church.
