Maps and Photos

St. Louis Genealogical Society (StLGS) sells books and CDs and has map and photography services available to both members and the general public.

Photographer for Hire

If you need a photo of a tombstone, a house, school, barn, or even a piece of land in the St. Louis area, our Photographer for Hire can assist you. You will receive a high quality digital image via e-mail or a printed photograph, if you prefer. Each image is made to order and priced reasonably. For more information on this service, click here. To contact the photographer, send a message to or call the StLGS office at 314-647-8547.

Photo Restoration

In addition to taking photographs, our photographer does professional quality photo restoration. He offers two options, with pricing based on the amount of restoration work that the original photo requires. You can simply receive a duplicate copy of your photo on 4”x6” (or larger) archival quality photo paper, along with a digital image that can be stored on your computer or shared with others. Alternatively, if your photo is damaged or discolored, he can provide you with a duplicate, restored copy. This includes a digital copy as well. For more information on photo restoration and to see some samples, click here. To contact the photographer, send a message to or call the StLGS office at 314-647-8547.

Map of St. Louis Cemeteries

Like many older cities, St. Louis has had dozens of cemeteries, many of which no longer are being used. The earliest of these were located in the City of St. Louis, and, over time, as the city grew to the north, west, and south, the cemeteries spread further outward. After many years of research, former StLGS president, Ann Fleming, CG, CGL, has created a beautiful poster-sized map of all currently identified St. Louis cemeteries and is offering copies for sale through StLGS. The map comes in black and white and contains a complete listing of all the cemeteries coded to their locations. A color version can be special ordered. For more information, click here. CDs and Books

The Society offers a variety of books and CDs for sale, and among them are several unique maps of St. Louis, as well as the U.S. and Europe. We have copies of Pitzman’s 1878 Atlas of St. Louis in both book and CD format, the 1909 Plat Book of St. Lous County on CD, and St. Louis City Ward Maps from 1908–1952 on CD. For a thorough look at most of our products, you will want to pick up our current catalog or download a copy. You can also browse the books and CDs offered to see the most up-to-date offerings.

Family History Maps Made to Order

Because we recognize that not everyone has the expertise or the equipment to print excellent maps from the CDs we sell, we offer a service to those who would like to custom-make maps of their families’ origins. You can choose the location(s), the size of the map(s), how much to include, and whatever else you deem important. Each map is made to order by our photographer and can be sent as a digital image or as a printed photograph. For more information, and to see some sample maps, click here. To contact the photographer, send a message to or call the StLGS office at 314-647-8547.

Fan Charts Made to Order

St. Louis Genealogical Society’s Photographer for Hire now offers beautiful Fan Charts made to order. Each chart is a matte or glossy photograph in four colors with black printing. Charts can be made as large as you like and will be suitable for framing or mounting. For more information, and to get prices and an order form, click here. To contact the photographer, send a message to or call the StLGS office at 314-647-8547.

Lost & Found Photos

Periodically, the Society receives photos which have been orphaned. The photos are received from a variety of sources including the Lost and Found Department from events, members who have come across the photos in their research, and sometimes, even from out of state resources. Our Lost & Found Photos page shows how we are trying to help every picture displayed to find a home.

All of the Photographer for Hire’s services are donated and all money collected goes directly to St. Louis Genealogical Society. Not only will you get professional quality work, but using our Photographer for Hire services is another way you can support StLGS.
