2013 Family History Conference Featured Speakers

Claire Bettag, CG, FUGA

Claire Bettag, CG, FUGA, professional genealogist based in Washington D.C., researches French and Acadian families and federal records at the National Archives. She lectures nationally and teaches at the National Institute on Genealogical Research (NIGR), the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), the Genealogy and Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP), and the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR). A contributing author to Professional Genealogy, she has also published articles in the NGS Quarterly, APG Quarterly, and other publications. She is a former co-editor of NGS Quarterly and has served as the director of NIGR and as a ProGen mentor, and on the boards of NGS, APG, and BCG. Currently she is on the editorial board of the NGS Quarterly and she volunteers at the National Archives. Her M.A. in French is from Columbia University; she has studied in France as a Fulbright fellow, and in Quebec, Spain, and Mexico.

 

Bruce Buzbee

Bruce Buzbee is president of RootsMagic and has been a developer of genealogy software for more than twenty years. Bruce serves on the board of directors for the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS).

Deborah E. Cribbs

Deborah currently works in the Preservation Department at the National Archives-St. Louis. She was the curator of Special Collections at the St. Louis Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St. Louis for five years before her current position. She is the historian and Historical Activities chair for The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America for Missouri and is a member of the St. Louis Genealogical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Ann Carter Fleming, CG, CGL, FNGS

Ann is an author, lecturer, and volunteer. She is a former president of St. Louis Genealogical Society and the National Genealogical Society. She currently serves as the research projects director for StLGS.

Bob Goode

Bob, a retired Parkway School District history teacher, is the current StLGS information systems director. He is the author of the monthly “Web Resources” column in the StLGS newsletter and frequently lectures and teaches genealogy/computer classes. He also is the co-leader of the society's yearly research trip to Salt Lake City.

Christina Miller

Christina is the Senior Reference Archivist for the Missouri State Archives. She has a Masters in Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia.

Ilene Murray

Ilene is a writer, editor, and lecturer. She serves as the publications director for the society, as editor of the monthly newsletter, News 'n Notes, and teaches genealogy/computer classes. She is also a co-leader of the society's annual research trip to Salt Lake City.

Patricia Walls Stamm, CG, CGL

Patricia Walls Stamm, CG, CGL, is the education manager for the National Genealogical Society as well as a researcher, lecturer, writer, and St. Louis Community College genealogical instructor. She is the education director for StLGS and is involved in various national genealogical organizations.

Kathy Wurth

Kathy is a researcher, speaker, volunteer, co-leader of the German Special Interest group, and owner of Family Tree Tours, a heritage tour travel company.
