As part of its mission, the St Louis Genealogical Society “promotes family history research by providing education and research opportunities.” To fulfill this portion of its mission statement, StLGS has adopted the following research policy.
The St. Louis Genealogical society will do limited genealogical and family history research, as outlined in these guidelines:
St. Louis City (1850, 1860, 1870)
Missouri (1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930)
St. Louis City (1820–1980, some years missing)
St. Louis County (1893–1979, some years missing)
[Note: A City Directory search is limited to one name in up to three volumes (three different years).]

Requests for broader research in the area are not undertaken by our volunteer staff. StLGS is happy to provide you with a list of Researchers For Hire genealogical researchers in the area who provide this service for a fee.
