Journal of the SocietyThe Society publishes a scholarly journal, the Quarterly, four times per year. It includes original articles, book reviews, record transcriptions, queries, and other items of interest. A subscription to the Quarterly is a benefit of membership. Electronic DeliveryOur Quarterly is now delivered to all new members via e-mail. Members without e-mail service may elect to receive their journal through the postal mail. Members who previously received their journal by postal mail may switch to e-mail delivery at any time. Each quarter, subscribers receive e-mail notification that the current Quarterly is available. Clicking on the Internet link in this e-mail message will open the journal in your browser (Mac) or in Adobe Acrobat Reader (PC). Home subscribers may then either save the journal to their own computers to read at their leisure, view the newsletter online, or print a copy to their local printer. ManuscriptsWe encourage article submissions from our members. The StLGS Quarterly editor will consider publishing any submission that has merit to genealogical research with an emphasis on the St. Louis area. This may include, but is not limited to:
Electronic submission is preferred. Text should follow The Chicago Manual of Style, latest edition. Endnotes should follow Elizabeth Shown Mills, Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1997). Non-members may submit a query for $3.00 for up to 50 words. The index to 1998–2007 is on CD. The society is now selling two CDs of the Quarterly complete with indexes. Each CD spans twenty years, works with both Macs and PCs, and is fully searchable. The actual back issues of the Quarterly are also on the CDs as PDFs. The CDs are available from the Online Store. A subject index to these Quarterly issues can be found at this link. Back IssuesSingle back issues of the Quarterly are available as electronic files (PDFs) and can be sent as e-mails upon request. A limited number of printed issues of the Quarterly are kept at the office and may be purchased for $5.00 each (which includes postage and handling).
